LSKB over view - an intelligence database

The LSKB (Life Science Knowledge Bank) uses a variety of approaches to provide a system to search for target proteins and ligands in the field of Drug Discovery. Compared to numerous databases currently available in the world, LSKB is one of the few that can handle both protein functions and chemical structures. This special feature was made possible by combining the functionalities of Database, Bio Knowledge, and Chem Knowledge.

Bio Knowledge and Chem Knowledge: Purpose-based Utilization

LSKB which can be used for both genomics research and drug discovery research is divided into two categories: Bio Knowledge and Chem Knowledge.
Bio Knowledge LSKB primarily accumulates information related to drug target proteins, general biotechnology, DNA microarrays, proteomics, and other information that can be used easily by researchers working in drug discovery. In particular, these databases contain information that allows the user to analyze drug target protein searches from multiple perspectives.
Conversely, Chem Knowledge LSKB systems are enhanced for compound information searches. These systems gather compound data recorded in public databases in advance. Including structural and keyword dictionaries, a Chem Knowledge LSKB contains over 40 million compound data entries and has features that allows compound structure searches and keyword searches. Using these functions, the user can perform many compound searches based on structure or keyword.
Using LSKB in combination with LSKB knowledge annotations offers the user a broad range of possibilities including drug target protein searches, target protein-based ligand searches, or existing drug-based ligand searches.
