A New Type of Software for Analyzing Genomes and Genes

Private Data Management Software for Researchers

Determination of the Taxonomy and Indentification of Fungi and Bacteria Based on DNA Sequence Analyses.

Analysis Support Tool for Allele Frequency

Manages various kinds of information.

Kiroku is a software that can manage various data, such as experimental protocols and results, analyzed results, images, documents, and links, which are created or saved daily. Through the usage of Kiroku, it is possible to computerize laboratory notebooks, which are currently being managed by one researcher.
The category to be managed can be created freely and easily.
It is a fact that the items to be managed vary from one researcher to another. To meet the various needs of the users, Kiroku offers a function for creating and editing categories of items to be managed freely. Since the data in Kiroku is managed by its own relational database, Kiroku allows for the easy creation of a full-fledged private database. Kiroku is easy to use, just like any other general application software.

You can create the private BLAST Database.

Kiroku offers a function specializing especially for managing sequence data of genes, proteins, and ESTs. There are also functions available for managing and editing annotations for genes and information of proteins as well as performing a homology search, summarizing its results and preparing a report about them. These functions are suitable for managing genes, clones, and strains. They will dramatically improve your research efficiency. You can register up to 70,000 sequences on your local PC.

Functions for managing information about genes, proteins, and their sequences
Registration of the data
  • The sequences in the basic public database formats (e.g. GenBank, EMBL, or FASTA formats) can be registered simply by dragging and dropping the sequence data onto the registration window.
  • All the annotations of the data can be registered accurately.
  • The registered data can be categorized according to nucleic or amino acid sequences.
  • A list of data can be registered from an Excel-formatted file.
Editing of annotation
  • The annotations in the GenBank format can be edited and registered.
  • The "Feature" item can be added easily.
Keyword search
  • A keyword search can be performed to all of the registered data.
  • All of the registered fields and the "Feature" items can be searched.
  • A search of detailed annotations can also be performed.
  • The searched results can be saved as a "Classification" group.
Exporting the data
  • The data can be exported in the GenBank, EMBL, or FASTA formats.
Managing the process history
  • The process history of BLAST searches performed can be recorded.
  • A gene can be linked to genes or proteins within the database.
BLAST searches in
a batch manner
  • BLAST searches of multiple sequences can be performed in a batch manner.
  • From a PC, a BLAST search can be performed against a private database.
  • The searched results can be summarized and exported as a list.
Kiroku-Note
Creating categories of the items
to be managed
  • The categories of items to be managed can be created freely.
  • The types of categories to be managed include texts, numbers, dates, attached files, links, and etc.
  • The categories can be added, deleted, or edited as needed to meet the user's demand.
Registration of the data
  • The registration of the data is as easy as dragging and dropping the data to the registration window.
  • A list of data can be registered from an Excel-formatted file.
  • The types of data that can be registered include images, files, texts, dates, numbers, internet links, and etc.
  • The registered data can be linked with sequence information of genes and proteins.
Keyword search
  • When a category to be managed is created, this category is automatically added to the list of searchable fields.
  • A keyword search can be performed to all of the registered data or a group of data.
  • The list of searched results can be exported to a file, such as a Windows Excel file.
DataShare - Using the DataShre Server (OPTION)
Commoditizing the data
  • The data can be commoditized by multiple users, who will be managed by the "User Manage" function.
  • The same extended functions are available as the above mentioned two types of functions (Kiroku-Note & Functions for managing information about genes, proteins, and their sequences).
  • Sequences in the database can be managed separately.
