LSKB is a knowledge database equipped with a synonym dictionary built from genes and their information, especially gene names and symbols, information about gene and protein functions, and text mined data obtained using the synonym dictionary.

The functions available for LSKB include the search for standard gene symbols from a wide range of keywords for molecules and proteins, the display of a list of proteins that are related to the gene of your interest, and the search for relations among diseases, drugs, genes, and proteins.

Synonym Dictionary for Genes with Various Terms

  • Outputs standard gene names and symbols from keywords or sequence information.
  • Helps to find the appropriate information about genes even in the case that the often-used gene symbols and terms are not standard, the gene names have suddenly changed, an accession number for the gene exists but it is unknown if it is registered, and it helps to identify the gene from its sequence.
  • Supports search for genes from expression probe IDs.
  • Includes dictionaries for genes of human, mouse, and rat.
  • Equipped with dictionaries for diseases, drugs, and proteins.
  • As options, ICD10 and/or MedDRA can be added onto the synonym dictionary.

Supporting Expression Analysis

LSKB has a function to identify genes from the accession IDs used by the standard chips of Agilent, Affymetrix, CodeLink and Illumina in a batch-manner. After the genes are identified, a further analysis can be performed to find the diseases, drugs, and genes that are related to them.

  • Adding your original data to LSKB.
  • Linking to the original database built from the searched results found in the dictionaries.
  • Creating a link to your original database.
  • Linking to BLAST Server and GenomeViewer.

Built-in to the System

LSKB is a database package software. Therefore, in order to use LSKB, a software license from Oracle Enterprise is needed.

License

The license is available for a yearly contract. One license applies for 5 users.

Update for the Databases

The update for the basic dictionaries is carried out 3 to 4 times a year.
Other dictionaries (e.g. MedDRA, ISIS), will be updated according to the license agreements.
